If your organization has a commitment to reduce waste and increase recycling, then you should be recognized!
Johnson County offers a brand new recognition program for businesses that are engaged in sustainable efforts
to specifically reduce waste. Qualifying businesses will receive a certificate of achievement from the County’s
Solid Waste Management Committee and recognition here on our website. You can impress your customers by
displaying your award and commitment to protecting our environment.

Shake a Leg: Start a Recycling Program at Work
Is your business ready to jump start a recycling program? Want to add a little spring to your existing recycling
program? Recycling and waste reduction can save your organization money and protect our natural resources. Green
businesses are increasingly more appealing to customers. Below are some resources to help you get started with
recycling and improve your current recycling program.

Apartment and Multi-family dwelling recycling
Multi-family dwellings have options for recycling programs. If you live in a rented apartment, the first thing to do would be to approach the manager of the building and request recycling services. Recycling usually gets started when there is a general interest from the residents. Deffenbaugh Industries has a co-mingled recycling program for apartment complexes called One Planet, One Chance. Abitibi-Bowater has a recycling program for apartments called Eco-Rewards.
