Household Hazardous Materials

HHW eventHousehold hazardous materials are a part of our daily lives. They may be used when cleaning, remodeling, gardening, maintaining vehicles, and even when enjoying hobbies such as crafts and photography. When no longer needed, they become household hazardous waste.

The Philip J. Wittek Hazardous Materials Collection Facility in northeast Johnson County is the location for Johnson County residents to bring their unwanted hazardous materials for the safe disposal, recycling, or reuse of those items. The program has been serving residents since 1993 and is open year round by appointment only. There is no charge for drop-off of household hazardous materials.

Household customers call to schedule an appointment or schedule on-line (see link below). Appointments can generally be scheduled the week you call. Mobile pickup is available to homebound residents.
